Fish with a Cop June 1 at Young Park

The Las Cruces Police Department is inviting kids of all ages to Fish with a Cop on June 1 at Young Park.

The free event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 1, at the Young Park lake, 1905 Nevada Ave. All ages and genders are invited to participate.

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish is assisting and will provide rods, reels and tackle to young anglers who do not already have the equipment. Representatives from New Mexico Desert Dogs and Muddy Water Catfishing Guide Services will also be assisting with the event.

The Fish with a Cop event will include skills stations, food, beverages and live music. Prizes will be awarded for biggest fish, smallest fish and to the young angler who catches the most fish.

Participants are encouraged to be at the Young Park lake by 8 a.m. Saturday to be paired with cop or professional angler. Parents, or guardians of youth, are encouraged to accompany their children during the event.
