Petros Singers perform a festive concert on 7 December

A festive concert celebrating the rituals and traditions of Christmas is being staged by the Hammersmith-based Petros Singers - one of London's finest amateur chamber choirs.

The concert takes place at St Peter's Church in Black Lion Lane, Hammersmith, on Saturday 7 December, and features the voices of a choir which has now been together for 36 years.

It will mark all the ceremonies and rites of the season, from roasting chestnuts to decking the halls with holly and ivy.

The Petros Singers, who are supported by independent Hammersmith estate agents Horton and Garton, will be accompanied on the organ by Andrew Wells.

As well as the customary sing-a-long carols, the concert features music by Holst, Betty Roe and Bob Chilcott. Glasses of mulled wine and plates of mince pies will add to the festive mood.

The Petros Singers run a bursary scheme, with the financial backing of their sponsors, which is currently helping Sam, a Year 13 student at West London Free School, and Muireann, a young music teacher who moved from Ireland to London in the summer.

The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are available in advance or on the door at £17 (£15 concs, £5 U18s and students) from the We Got Tickets website.
