The agreement went into effect on April 1, 2019.
'We are pleased to finalize a long-term contract that continues to pair Emergency Services PC, the premier emergency medicine group in Lackawanna County, with our team at Geisinger Community Medical Center,' said Anthony Aquilina, D.O. president of Geisinger Northeast. 'ESPC is well known for providing great care, and it is wonderful news for our patients and community that ESPC will continue to partner with GCMC to provide that care well into the future.'
'Emergency Services PC and GCMC share a common goal of putting patients at the center of all that we do,' said Steven J. Brunetti, D.O., vice president of Emergency Services PC. 'It is gratifying to finalize this agreement and move forward with our mission of providing prompt and professional emergency medical care to people in need.'
Emergency Services PC, based in Dunmore, has provided emergency physician services at GCMC for many years. GCMC, part of the integrated Geisinger health system, offers the only Level II trauma center and electronic intensive care unit (eICU) in Lackawanna County, caring locally for the most seriously ill and injured patients.
'We are here to provide care for everyone, and having this agreement in place means that our emergency patients do not have to wonder if their insurance covers both their hospital and physician care,' said Anthony Aquilina, D.O., president of Geisinger Northeast. 'Now, it does.'
