WASHINGTON D.C.- Today, Rob Portman (R-OH) applauded the Department of Transportation's announcementthat the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) discretionary grant program is now taking applications from states like Ohio. The grant program provides funding for surface transportation projects of local and regional significance. Previously, this program has been funded at $1 billion. Thanks to the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which Portman spearheaded and wassigned into law last November, funding levels have been increased to $1.5 billion. "This announcement is great news for Ohio. Thanks to the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, more infrastructure projects than ever before have the opportunity to be funded,"said Portman. "I encourage communities across Ohio to submit their applications to help fund overdue infrastructure projects and regional transportation priorities across the state."

Since the grant program began in 2010, Ohio has had an average of 21 applications per year, with a total of $203.43 million awarded to projects throughout the state.
