Coastal Virginia – The New Epicenter of Abortion Access in the South

Today, a near-total abortion ban in Florida took effect. Virginia is now the last state in the South that has not banned abortion.

DCCC Spokesperson Lauryn Fanguen released the following statement:

"Women in Florida will now be forced to travel to Coastal Virginia for an abortion. As the last state in the South to not ban abortion, Virginia is now the epicenter of abortion access for women living in the South.

"Jen Kiggans celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade, paving the way for the Florida abortion ban. Time and time again, at the federal level, Kiggans has worked to restrict abortion nationwide and has belittled this sometimes life-saving care by likening it to a 'nose job ' and 'shiny object.' Jen Kiggans is complicit in the abortion bans across the country and the impact it will now have on access in Coastal Virginia.
