Resident input sought on City's five-year CDBG Consolidated Plan

The City of Lewisville's Community Grants Division will hold a series of community meetings and public hearings to gather resident's input on neighborhood needs, social service priorities, and affordable housing issues in Lewisville.

Each year, the City receives approximately $785,000 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Every five years, the City engages in a community-led planning process to determine how best to spend that money.

2022 marks the start of a new five-year planning process. The City anticipates receiving approximately $3.9 million in Community Development Block Grant funding over the next five years. During this planning process, the City will draft two plans - the Consolidated Plan and the Assessment of Fair Housing Plan.

The community meetings and public hearings for input on the Consolidated Plan will be held on:

* Monday, May 16 - 10 a.m., Thrive Recreation Center, Dogwood Room 3, 1950 S. Valley Parkway
* Monday, May 16 - 7 p.m., City Council Public Hearing, Lewisville City Hall, 151 W. Church Street
* Thursday, June 2 - 6:30 p.m., Westside Baptist Church Assembly Hall, 900 Bellaire Avenue
* Monday, July 18 - 7 p.m., City Council Public Hearing, Lewisville City Hall, 151 W. Church Street

The Consolidated Plan includes an assessment of the City's affordable housing and community development needs and market conditions. The City will use this examination of current needs to make data-driven, place-based investment decisions. The City will specify its community development priorities, its multi-year goals, and the activities that will be carried out in pursuit of these goals. The City also will describe the financial resources it anticipates that it will dedicate to each activity during the five-year term of the Consolidated Plan.

The Consolidated Plan is carried out through Annual Action Plans, which provide a concise summary of the actions, activities, and the specific federal and non-federal resources that will be used each year to address the priority needs and specific goals identified by the Consolidated Plan.

COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT SURVEY

Lewisville residents also are encouraged to take part in the Community Needs Assessment Survey. The results of the survey will help City staff make informed decisions about future investments in housing, businesses, and neighborhoods.
