U.S. Representative Ted Lieu to tour Metro’s Expo Line Phase 2

WHAT: U.S. Representative Ted Lieu (CD-33) will join Metro CEO Phillip A. Washington and executives from Skanska USA Civil to tour the Metro Expo Line Phase 2 light-rail project, which last year extended service from Culver City to Downtown Santa Monica. The National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Assn. (NRC) is coordinating the event. The tour will begin at Expo Line's La Cienega/Jefferson Station, where Metro CEO Phillip A. Washington and Brian Freund, Vice President of Operations at Skanska USA Civil, will give a presentation on the rail project. The 6.6-mile second phase of the Expo Line opened on May 20, 2016, with seven new stations. Major construction began in 2012 and was completed in 2016. The Skanska-Rados Joint Venture (SRJV) was responsible of the construction. The NRC presented SRJV with the 2016 Large Project of the Year for the Expo Line construction project in January 2017.
