Free Sand and Sandbags for Residents

In preparation for the upcoming rain, don't forget that sandbags are available to Placentia residents at the City's Corporation Yard at 2999 E. La Jolla Street, Anaheim, CA 92806, Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Proof of residency will be required. Residents must bring their own shovels to fill their bags with sand. Residents may also pick up sandbags at Fire Station No. 2 at 1530 Valencia Ave, Placentia, CA 92870, daily between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Sandbags can be very useful in diverting water, protecting slopes and structures, and assisting in erosion control. Helpful tips: Fill the bag about half full of soil or sand so they are not too heavy to lift and stack properly; sandbags will rot in the sun; avoid placing them out too early in the storm season; keep plastic sheeting available in case of an emergency.

Bags are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Limit 15 bags per person.
