Wang Yi Meets with Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei

On September 16, 2021 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei in Dushanbe.

Wang Yi congratulated Belarus on the 30th anniversary of its independence, saying that relations between China and Belarus which are comprehensive strategic partners and also iron-clad partners have been running at a high level under the personal care and promotion of the two heads of state. China is willing to work with Belarus to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and raise the traditional friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Belarus to a new level, by taking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year as a new starting point. China thanks Belarus for standing firmly with China on issues concerning China's core interests. China will also continue to support Belarus in safeguarding its state sovereignty and national dignity, as well as its legitimate rights and interests, and believes that Belarus will defy power politics and pursue further development. China is willing to assist Belarus in completely triumphing over the pandemic and jointly build a China-Belarus community of health. Both sides should also deepen cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, promote local cooperation between the two countries, further enrich the content of the strategic partnership between China and Belarus, and bring more tangible benefits to the two peoples.

Noting that China is a great friend of Belarus, Makei said, Belarus is determined to develop relations with China and is willing to be an iron-clad friend of China. Belarus is grateful to China for its valuable support in the international arena and will, as always, continue to openly support China on all issues concerning China's core interests, such as those concerning Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Xizang, and oppose the politicization of COVID-19 origin-tracing by the Western countries led by the United States. Belarus hopes to further deepen practical cooperation between the two countries and lift bilateral relations to a new level.
