Appeal following East Finchley collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in East Finchley.

Officers were called at around 1215hrs on Friday, 6 September, to a van in collision with a pedestrian in High Road, N2.

Officers attended along with colleagues from London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade.

The pedestrian - a 90-year-old woman - was taken to hospital. Her injuries are serious, but have been assessed as not life-threatening.

The van driver - a 51-year-old man - stopped at the scene. He was arrested at around 1815hrs on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and taken to a north London police station. The man has been released under investigation.
