On Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at approximately 8:07 p.m., Fitchburg Police were dispatched to an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Capitol Petro gas station at 2770 S. Syene Road.

Officers determined that a male suspect entered the store armed with a handgun and pointed it at the cashier. The suspect was able to steal money and merchandise; the cashier was not harmed. The suspect then fled the scene in a newer model white SUV at a high rate of speed.
