United Way of Blair County is once again offering the Glass Slipper Project, a prom gown distribution program available to all Blair County middle, junior, and high school students. Students are invited to visit our boutique and to 'shop' for a free gown, jewelry, and/or accessories to make their spring social or prom an event they will always remember. Distributions will take place in the Logan Valley Mall on the first level by Macy's and across from the children's play area during the following days/times: Friday, February 16th from 5:00 -8:00 p.m.; Saturday, February 17th from noon until 4:00 p.m.; and Saturday, March 17th from noon until 4:00 p.m.
Additionally, on Saturday, February 17th, Sephora will have a representative present at the boutique to offer 'mini makeovers' and makeup tips for young ladies receiving gowns through the Glass Slipper Project. There will be door prizes of shoes, accessories, makeup, and a hair-styling package. All girls who receive a gown on Friday, February 16th and Saturday, February 17th will be entered to win the door prizes.
The Glass Slipper Committee has been collecting a wide variety of gowns in various sizes. If you would like to donate a gown or contribute to this effort, please contact United Way of Blair County at (814) 944-0884, ext. 302. New or gently used gowns, jewelry, and/or accessories may be dropped off at United Way of Blair County, located at 5414 Sixth Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602.
