CLIA launches trade river cruise programme (UK)

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has launched a four-week programme that aims to enhance agents' river cruise knowledge and expertise.

The 'River Cruise Challenge' has been rolled out by CLIA's River Cruise Working Group as the trade gears up for the crucial Wave period, and is intended to boost product and destination knowledge, as well as help agents keep up to date with this fast-moving sector.

To complete the programme, agents are encouraged to:

* Access CLIA's river-specific learning tools, such as a 'New-to-River Cruise Guide', and two online training modules, all available via the CLIA website. Agents can also view related videos and past webinars, and subscribe to the CLIA 'RiverView Podcast' via the site
* Engage with the help and training on offer from river cruise operators, by using the agent resources on the CLIA website to establish key training and support contacts
* Become members of both the CLIA Europe and CLIA travel agent Facebook pages, to keep updated with the latest river cruise news and insight

Andy Harmer, CLIA UK & Ireland managing director, said: "River cruise is going from strength to strength, so with Wave just around the corner this is the ideal time for the trade to brush up on their know-how.

"The River Cruise Challenge is available now, as well as next year, for agents who are keen to grow their river cruise sales into 2022 and beyond. And because it takes only four weeks to complete, it will be quick and straightforward for them to add to their existing knowledge."

A raft of optional river cruise events, initiatives and tools are additionally on offer from CLIA to the trade. These include the more in-depth CLIA RiverView online training module; the 10th anniversary RiverView Conference in Budapest, which takes place in March and is open for registration now; and the main CLIA Conference, scheduled for May, where river cruise will form a key part of the presentations and overall content.

Further river cruise 2022 activities, including CLIA's first River Cruise Residential, will be announced shortly.
