Men's soccer's Bernedo pinpointed as GLVC Offensive Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS - Bellarmine University's has been selected as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week for men's soccer, the league announced Monday.

The senior forward accumulated three goals - including two game-winners - in No. 14 Bellarmine's 2-1 victory over Drury on Friday and 6-0 triumph over Southwest Baptist on Sunday.

Both of Bellarmine's matches took place on the road. After his team fell behind 1-0 inside the first three minutes to Drury, Bernedo scored the second of two straight Knights goals in the first half. The goal by the native of Santiago, Chile proved to be the difference.

Bernedo helped trigger Bellarmine's onslaught of goals against Southwest Baptist by recording the first two. His three-goal output over the week of play pushed his team-leading total to nine this season. He needed only seven shots to tally the trio of scores for the Knights, who are 10-0-3 overall and 7-0-3 in the GLVC while carrying a 22-game unbeaten streak.
