26.11.2021 (05:00)

The exercise with the participation of ten transport and assault Mi-8AMTSh-V helicopters of the Central Military District (CMD) ended in the mountains of the Western Sayan of the Tyva Republic.

During the exercise, the crews of the Mi-8AMTSh-V Terminator helicopters performed the tasks of landing and take-off from unprepared mountain sites located at an altitude of over three kilometers, delivering cargo on an external load to high-altitude sites, flying over difficult terrain with rounding mountain slopes, passing the gorges. In addition, for the first time to perform missions in mountainous terrain at night, the pilots used GEO-ONV1-01 night vision goggles, which allowed the crews to navigate in space at night, when it was forbidden to use external signals and internal lighting, and not to give themselves away to a mock enemy. As part of the exercise, the helicopter pilots performed more than 100 sorties during the day and at night, and also completed more than five tactical missions.

In total, ten Mi-8AMTSh-V helicopters and more than 100 military personnel from among the flight and engineering personnel, as well as specialists from the search and rescue and parachute service, were involved in the exercise.
