National Autism Awareness Month

National Autism Awareness Month

Updated: 4/1/2021

Kaleida Health joins the world in celebrating National Autism Awareness Month. Autism is a complex, lifelong developmental disability that affects essential human behaviors such as social interaction, the ability to communicate ideas and feelings, imagination, self-regulation, and the ability to establish relationships with others. Autism is the fastest growing developmental disorder in the United States. One in 54 children are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, totaling 5 million young people and adults. We celebrate this month to spread awareness and to promote acceptance.

Kaleida Health is committed to advancing the health of our community, and our vision is to provide high-value quality health care. We recognize that providing educational materials of signs and symptoms of autism can promote awareness and spark empathy and acceptance in caring for people with autism or people who identify as autistic. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has many resources to support you in caring for people and families affected by autism.
