Media Advisory: The Speakers' Forum Meets in Durban Tomorrow

Parliament, Tuesday, 20 September 2022 - The South African Legislative Sector (SALS) will tomorrow, Wednesday, 21 September, hold its Speakers' Forum meeting at The Capital Pearls Hotel in Kwa-Mhlanga, Durban.

The meeting intends to, among others, consider the Sector's consolidated budget for 2023/2024, get a status update on the collective bargaining process for 2022, and various reports, including the International Parliamentary engagements.

The Speakers' Forum comprises the Presiding Officers of Parliament, Speakers and Deputy Speakers of all the nine provincial legislatures. It sets the agenda and oversees the management and coordination of sector programmes.

The National Assembly Speaker, Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and the National Council of Provinces Chairperson, Mr Amos Masondo, are the co-chairpersons of the Forum. It is the highest decision-making body in the Legislative Sector in South Africa and meets regularly to set the direction.
