Charleston, WV - Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) released the following statement on the death of Marine Private First Class (PFC) Zachary Riffle from Kingwood, West Virginia.

"Gayle and I are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Marine Private First Class Zachary Riffle from Kingwood, West Virginia. Our brave servicemembers put themselves in harms way every day to protect their fellow Americans and the values we hold dear. It is tragic to lose someone so young and with so much potential to give back to our country, state and community. PFC Riffle's sacrifice is heartbreaking, and we are forever grateful for his service to our nation. Gayle and I encourage all West Virginians to join us in praying for Zachary's family, friends and loved ones as they mourn this incredible loss."
