SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Pro Football Hall of Fame member Brian Urlacher will visit South Dakota for the 2024 Hy-Vee/Sanford Legends for Kids. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the event, which runs June 4-7 at the Sanford Sports Complex.
Urlacher will attend the Legends Banquet on June 6 at the Sanford Pentagon.
The 2018 Hall of Fame inductee played all 13 seasons of his NFL career with the Chicago Bears. The ninth overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft, Urlacher was named All-Pro First Team four times, selected to the Pro Bowl eight times and won NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2005.
"I am excited to be in Sioux Falls for the Hy-Vee/Sanford Legends for Kids event and see first-hand the impact it has on the community and the young athletes who attend the clinics," said Urlacher. "It's an amazing accomplishment for this program to be in its 25th year, and I'm looking forward to sharing stories from my career at the banquet."
The Hy-Vee/Sanford Legends program provides learning opportunities for young student-athletes to grow and be inspired in the world of sports by providing different sporting clinics and camps. Each year, celebrity athletes who represent the Legends goals-quality, integrity and character-are brought to Sioux Falls.
The sessions are conducted by Sanford Sports Academy employees, professional athletes and the region's best college and high school coaches who have been recognized as positive role models on and off the field. Parents and coaches also participate in clinics designed to help them further understand their role as mentors while sharpening their coaching skills.
Last year, Hy-Vee/Sanford Legends raised $87,000 for the Legends Grant Program for area communities. Since 2005, Hy-Vee/Sanford Legends has raised more than $3.2 million.
The Legends Football High School Team Camp is also back in 2024. The camp is scheduled for June 24-26 at Kirkeby-Over Stadium and The Crossing at the Sanford Sports Complex.
In order to optimize the participant's experience, space is limited. Participants are strongly encouraged to register in advance beginning today at Sanfordsports.com/legends to ensure sure they get the proper t-shirt size.
