MENA & AFI Regional Coordination Groups – Driving Change in the Region through active collaboration

The Middle East & North Africa (MENA) and Africa & Indian Ocean (AFI) Regional Coordination Groups (RCG), are made up of qualified regional experts from member airlines and IATA regional staff.
The role of the Regional Coordination Group is to:
  • Provide technical and other required input to IATA and its members on matters related to the improvement of safety, security and efficiency of civil air transport and actively work on achieving that improvement;
  • Work with the Safety, Flight and Ground Operations Advisory Council, and IATA management teams to resolve issues and advance industry interests;
  • Develop standards, policies, best practices, procedures and guidelines for the benefit of the industry.

Composition and Meetings

The RCG is open to IATA member airlines only. The number of participants is limited to 15. Strategic partners, non-IATA airlines and Industry Stakeholders or States can join the meetings as deemed appropriate.

The RCGs meet in the Spring and Autumn of each year, and collaborate via monthly calls; the impact of this small group committing to work on behalf of the industry is far reaching, with countless successes achieved through collaboration and dedication to serve the industry.
