Celebrating the Completion of the Johnson Avenue Sewer Relief Project - April 19

For Immediate Release

Date: April 16, 2018

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Johnson Avenue Sewer Project

Join the City of El Cajon on Thursday April 19, 2018, at 3:30 p.m. to celebrate the completion of the Johnson Avenue Sewer Relief Project. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be hosted in the Parkway Plaza parking lot at the intersection of Johnson Avenue and Village Parkway.

The $16 million sewer project took years of planning and three years of construction to complete. The two-mile pipeline transfers most of the City's wastewater to a regional pipeline that carries sewage to the City of San Diego's Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant. The pipeline travels along Johnson Avenue and Parkway Plaza and crosses under Interstate 8 through a tunnel nearly forty-five feet below the freeway. The project represents one of the largest public works infrastructure projects ever undertaken by the City of El Cajon.

El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells, City Councilmembers, staff from S.C. Valley Engineering, and Construction Managers from Michael Baker International will be at the event to help commemorate projects completion. The event is open to the public.
