State Secretary Ingrid Brocková: In the field of water management, Slovakia has strong expertise and competitive companies, which we offer to partners in the Central Asia region

State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ingrid Brocková, received today (21 January 2022) the advisor to the International Water Assessment Centre (IWAC), Boris Minárik. They discussed specific possibilities for support of IWAC activities by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.

"Our Ministry is systematically dedicated to transferring experience in the field of water management to the countries of the Central Asian region. The result is concrete projects in the field of irrigation, hydrometeorology, operational management and production of electricity from hydropower plants," said the state secretary.

In April last year, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic organised a workshop on smart technologies in the field of energy efficiency and water management with partners from the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic, the European Union, and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, as well as the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, and private sector representatives. State Secretary Ingrid Brocková also represented the Slovak Republic at the first Economic Forum of the European Union with the countries of Central Asia.

"We are interested in connecting Slovak public institutions and the private sector with international organisations for the needs of Central Asian countries. Our aim is to pass on experience in the preparation of legislation and implementation of projects in the water dam and hydroelectric power plant management sector," confirmed State Secretary Ingrid Brocková.

The International Water Assessment Centre operated in Slovakia from 2009 to 2012. The aim of the organisation is to exchange experience and practice in the field of water resource management.
