Dresden Team Sprint Preview

PREVIEW Ladies' TEAM SPRINT FREESTYLE - Sunday 14 Jan 2018

• Sweden have won three of the last four team sprint World Cup races, all in the freestyle. In this run (2015-2017), only Russia avoided Swedish success as they won the team sprint race in Toblach on 15 January 2017.
• Stina Nilsson (SWE) has won the last two team sprint World Cup events in which she participated - in Planica on 17 January 2016 and in Otepää on 18 January 2015, both together with Ida Ingemarsdotter (SWE).
• Only Ingemarsdotter (3) has won more team sprint World Cup races for Sweden than Nilsson (2).
• On 28 October 2007, Charlotte Kalla (SWE) became the youngest winner of a team sprint World Cup event as she won alongside Britta Johansson Norgren (SWE) in Düsseldorf at 20 years and 98 days old.
• Germany will host a team sprint World Cup race for the first time since 4 December 2011, when Mari Eide (NOR) and Maiken Caspersen Falla (NOR) gave Norway the win in Düsseldorf (freestyle).
• Norway are hoping to claim their first team sprint World Cup win since 12 January 2014, when Falla and Ingvild Flugstad Østberg (NOR) won in the classic style in Nové Mesto na Morave.
• Norway's last team sprint victory in the freestyle came on 13 January 2013, when Falla and Østberg triumphed in Liberec.
• Norway have reached the podium in each of the last six team sprint World Cup events (classic and free), since a fourth-place finish in Sochi on 3 February 2013 (classic).
• The only non-European team to have won a team sprint World Cup event is United States, as Jessica Diggins (USA) and Kikkan Randall (USA) won the race in Quebec on 7 December 2012 (freestyle).

PREVIEW Men's TEAM SPRINT FREESTYLE

• Russia have won five of the last eight team sprint World Cup races. Russia's tally of 10 team sprint World Cup victories is a joint-high all-time along with Norway.
• The last three team sprint World Cup events have seen three different winners - Russia in PyeongChang (2017), Canada in Toblach (2017) and Italy in Planica (2016).
• Norway's last team sprint World Cup victory came on 22 December 2013, when Eldar Rønning (NOR) and Ola Vigen Hattestad (NOR) won in Asiago (classic style).
• On 5 December 2010, Norway last recorded a team sprint World Cup win in the freestyle, as Hattestad and Anders Gløersen (NOR) won in Düsseldorf.
• Germany will host a team sprint World Cup race for the first time since 4 December 2011, when Jesper Modin (SWE) and Teodor Peterson (SWE) handed Sweden the win in Düsseldorf (freestyle).
