Firelands Reopens Urgent Care and Continues Testing

(Sandusky, Ohio) Firelands Urgent Care at 5420 Milan Road near Walmart will reopen to patients on Monday, January 31. Firelands Urgent Care hours will be Monday through Friday from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm, and Saturday through Sunday from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. Patients can visit, whether they have a family physician or not, for respiratory infections, ear infections, minor lacerations, onsite x-ray, work-related injuries and more. The difficult decision was made to temporarily close Firelands Urgent Care earlier in January to accommodate for the increased need for COVID-19 testing. Over the course of the month, the Firelands care team has worked hard to serve the community. In total, the rotating team of 12 associates spent about 940 hours on site and collected more than 1,900 COVID-19 swabs in January. "We are proud of our care team members who have served throughout the pandemic," said Jordan Sternberg, a spokesman for Firelands. Sternberg went on to say, "Our entire team has remained focused. It is Firelands' mission to 'provide excellent healthcare, promote community wellness, and improve the lives we serve.' Our team addressed the COVID-19 surge early in the year, identified a need for us to step up our testing efforts, and served the surrounding community."

Firelands is still offering the ability to get COVID-19 test without a physician's order. An appointment is required: call 419-557-7840 option 3. Accessing your Firelands patient portal is the fastest way to receive your results. Test results may take up to 24-48 hours and will be available on your patient portal.
