MINDEF and SAF Personnel Celebrate Singapore's 57th Birthday

Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen led about 1,000 personnel from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) in reciting the National Pledge and singing the National Anthem this morning during MINDEF's National Day Observance Ceremony. The ceremony was held in-person at MINDEF this year to celebrate Singapore's 57th birthday and to commemorate 55 years of National Service (NS55).

During the ceremony, artistes from the Music and Drama Company put up a heartfelt performance showcasing this year's National Day Parade theme, "#StrongerTogether,Majulah!". In addition to popular National Day songs, the artistes also performed a medley of Singapore Army, Navy and Air Force songs to appreciate the contributions of past and present national servicemen in commemoration of NS55.

Also present at the ceremony were Senior Ministers of State for Defence Mr Heng Chee How and Mr Zaqy Mohamad, the Chiefs of Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as other senior officials from MINDEF and the SAF. All SAF units, including overseas training detachments, will also be holding observance ceremonies to celebrate National Day.
