DTE Tree Trimming in the City of Rochester - 2022

DTE provided a map (below) that identifies the areas where DTE will be doing some tree trim maintenance, along with the estimated start and completion dates. Rochester residents will be receiving a letter explaining that DTE will be in the area. Before trimming starts, DTE planners will be out in the field to plan the work. If the resident is not at home at the time DTE is evaluating their property, they will leave a door hanger with the field supervisor's contact information. These tree trim contractors will be wearing high-visibility vests and carrying ID badges.

Because completing tree trim maintenance is crucial to reducing power outages and improving reliability for residents, DTE will have its contract tree trim crews in the field working Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., and 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Inclement weather, crew availability and resident coordination will also have an impact DTE's scheduling and there may be times when DTE needs to have crews working an eight (8) - hour day on Sundays to stay on schedule.

The winter season is one of the best times to trim trees since the leaves are off and the ground is frozen, which prevents trucks from sinking in soft, rain-soaked ground. Additionally, DTE will plan to trim as many oak trees as possible by April 15, 2022 to comply with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources' (MDNR) oak wilt prevention schedule. DTE will return to the area in the fall for all the oaks that they were unable to get to before the April deadline.
