Two Positive for COVID on Cayman Brac

Published: October 26, 2021

Public Health can confirm that two individuals in Cayman Brac have tested positive for the viral disease COVID-19.

A symptomatic walk-in patient at Faith Hospital was found to be positive after being tested yesterday. A primary contact of the patient who had come to the hospital with her also tested positive. A second primary contact is being tested this afternoon.

Public Health has already begun contact tracing for the incident, which healthcare officials stress is in no way connected to the Little Cayman case reported yesterday.

As part of the contact tracing process 62 individuals attended a routine walk-in COVID-19 screening clinic at Faith Hospital. Results are currently pending.

Individuals who develop flu-like symptoms, or whose existing symptoms worsen, (as an example they experience difficulty breathing) should call the flu hotline on 1-800-534-8600 or 947- 3077. In emergency situations people should call 911.

Anyone seeking information on how to cope with COVID 19 in the community may contact the Public Health Department at tel. 244-2632 or visit www.exploregov.ky/coronavirus-resources.

The percentage of each Sister Island's population that has been fully vaccinated is:

  • 95% in Little Cayman and
  • 83.5% in Cayman Brac.
