CONSUMER ALERT: Undeclared Milk in Gayana's Bakery 'Sochniki'

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball today alerted consumers that Gayana's Bakery 'Sochniki,' manufactured by Intermezzo Bakery Inc, d/b/a Gayana's Bakery located at 100-02 Rockaway Blvd, Ozone Park, NY, is recalled due to the presence of undeclared milk allergens. People who have severe sensitivity to milk may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product. To date, no illnesses have been reported to this Department in connection with this product.

Gayana Bakery Sochniki sold in 12 ounce plastic containers with a "best by" date of 04/15/2024 are subject to this recall. A photo of the product is included in this consumer alert. The product was sold at the retail store Net Cost Market at 2257 E. 16th Street, Brooklyn, NY.

Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by the New York State Food Laboratory revealed the product contained milk allergens, which were not declared on the label.

Consumers who purchased Gayana's Bakery 'Sochniki' products covered under this recall are urged to discard the product. Consumers with questions may contact Intermezzo Bakery Inc d/b/a Gayana Bakery at (347) 498-5555.
