Carrollton Public Works Department Now Accepting Applications for Intern Program

Do you want to make a difference in your community and get paid while doing it? The City of Carrollton is accepting applications through noon on Friday, July 29 for the Public Works Intern Program.

Program participants will shadow Public Works employees in each of the department's eight divisions (Traffic, Drainage, Streets, Wastewater, Finish-Out, Meters, Asphalt, and Water Quality/Production) in order to gain a variety of new skills and an understanding of the importance of Public Works in the lives of Carrollton's citizens, motorists, and visitors.

Each intern will be evaluated throughout the program, and full-time job offers will be made to selected interns upon successful completion of the program. The Intern Program will run from the applicant's initial start date through a 10-week period.

Interns will receive compensation in the amount of $15 per hour for 40 hours per week during the training phase. If the intern is offered full-time employment with the City, pay steps will be given based on the position the intern is filling, with an entry level rate of $16.42 per hour plus a comprehensive City benefits package.
