Summary

The Coast Guard will enforce a safety zone for fireworks at The Wharf D.C. on October 12, 2022, to provide for the safety of life on navigable waterways during this event. Our regulation for Fireworks Displays within the Fifth Coast Guard District identifies the safety zone for this event in Washington, DC. During the enforcement period, the operator of any vessel in the safety zone must comply with directions from the Patrol Commander or any Official Patrol displaying a Coast Guard ensign.

Dates

The regulation in 33 CFR 165.506 will be enforced for the location identified as item (1) of table 2 to paragraph (h)(2) from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on October 12, 2022.

Supplementary Information

The Coast Guard will enforce the safety zone regulation 33 CFR 165.506 for fireworks at The Wharf D.C. from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on October 12, 2022. This action is being taken to provide for the safety of life on navigable waterways during this event. Our regulation for Fireworks Displays within the Fifth Coast Guard District, § 165.506, specifies the location of the safety zone for the fireworks show in item 1 to table 2 to paragraph (h)(2). The safety zone encompasses portions of the Washington Channel in the Upper Potomac River. As reflected in § 165.506(d), during the enforcement period if you are the operator of a vessel in the safety zone you must comply with directions from the Patrol Commander or any Official Patrol displaying a Coast Guard ensign.

In addition to this notification of enforcement in the Federal Register , the Coast Guard plans to provide notification of this enforcement period via the Local Notice to Mariners and marine information broadcasts.
