County Celebrates National Volunteer Month

Reading Time: < 1minute

The month of April is designated as National Volunteer Month, so the County is reminding residents of the many volunteer opportunities available across its departments.

Volunteering with the County of San Diego is an opportunity to give back to your community. More than 9,000 volunteers gave their time and heart to the County last year, resulting in an estimated value of $37,252,976.

If you're interested in volunteer work at the County, you can put your personal values into action, receive training and gain work experience.

The County offers a wide array of services which means volunteer opportunities open with departments as varied as Animal Services, Libraries, Parks and Recreation, the Sheriff's Department and Emergency Services.

Annually, the Board of Supervisors recognizes the outstanding volunteers that dedicate their time and talents to various County departments. This year's Volunteer Recognition Ceremony will be held before the Board of Supervisor's meeting on Tuesday, April 30, at the County Administration Center. The County will recognize 19 outstanding volunteers.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, visit the Clerk of the Board's volunteer program.
