July 21, 2022 - Oconto County Public Health to Partner with Local Police Departments to Collect Donations for Food Pantries

Oconto County Public Health will participate in both the Lena and Oconto National Night Out (NNO) events on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. National Night Out is an event held around the United States every year to take a stance on crime and drug prevention. It's an event for families and neighbors to come together to get to know one another and to help keep communities safe.

Both events begin at 5:00 p.m. Lena's NNO will end at 8:00 p.m. and Oconto's will end at 7:00 p.m.

In addition to providing health and safety information at the events, Oconto County Public Health will partner with the Lena and Oconto Police Departments to collect donations for area food pantries. Details:

Lena:

  • Drop off items at the Oconto County Public Health table.
  • Non-perishable, frozen and refrigerated foods can be donated in Lena as Public Health will place perishable items in a refrigerator/freezer during the event.
  • All donated items will be brought to the Feed My Sheep pantry in Lena.
  • Feed My Sheep pantry has made a special request for meat items.

Oconto:
  • Drop off items at the Oconto Police Department table.
  • Non-perishable food items only.
  • All donated items from this event will be brought to Bread by the Bay food pantry in Oconto.
Suggestions for non-perishable items include:
  • canned fruits and vegetables
  • dried or canned beans/peas
  • canned chicken or tuna
  • whole wheat pasta/rice
  • low sugar cereal/oatmeal
  • peanut butter
