The City of Terrace is committed to ensuring citizens are kept informed of the COVID-19 pandemic. January 19, 2022: Fitness classes and gym use return

The gym at the Terrace & District Aquatic Centre reopens on January 20. Fitness classes at the Sportsplex resume on January 24. Learn more about the protocols in place here.

December 23, 2022: The Terrace & District Aquatic Centre will require proof of vaccination for everyone 12+ participating in adult or mixed-age activities.

This includes public swims, Aquafit, laps, and most other activities on our calendar except youth swimming lessons and Junior Lifeguard Club (which are youth-only activities). As is our current practice at the Sportsplex for skating activities, staff will need to see your Vaccine Card in order to permit entry into the TDAC. This includes spectators. In addition, as of January 1, 2022, we are required to scan the QR code; a visual check alone will no longer be permitted. Please be ready with your Vaccine Card when you arrive.

Masks required for ages 5+

Masks are required for all individuals ages 5 and older entering a city building. When visiting the Sportsplex and Terrace & District Aquatic Centre, masks will be required in all common areas, except when you are engaged in physical activity, such as swimming, working out in the gym, or attending a fitness class.

This mask mandate will apply to all patrons, those conducting business, and those providing a service. The same precautions apply to our staff, who will be required to wear masks indoors when not seated at their workstation. There are some people who may be exempt from mask requirements; please visit the provincial government's page for details on this as well as the full list of indoor public settings that are affected by this order.

Vaccine passport

As of Monday, October 25, 2021, the City of Terrace requires proof of full vaccination (i.e. second shot received) with the BC Vaccine Card for certain discretionary activities in our Sportsplex, arenas, and Terrace & District Aquatic Centre.

Mayor and Council

Now that City Hall is open again, can I attend Council Meetings and Committee of the Whole Meetings?
The current PHO orders permit limited in-person public attendance at council or board meetings. As of September 28, 2021, the COVID Related Measures Act and Ministerial Order M192 both have expired, meaning we may no longer hold electronic-only meetings. Therefore, we are now welcoming the public to attend our meetings in person again. Council Chambers is open to four members of the public and media, as well as members of Council and essential staff, with the rest joining virtually. Everyone in Chambers is seated to ensure we are maintaining safe physical distancing.

We also continue to use Microsoft Teams to allow members of the public to take part in our meetings.

To view all the current options for participating in person or virtually, click here.

We will continue to review our open meeting procedures to ensure best efforts are continuing to be met. If you have any concerns or suggestions regarding open meeting procedures, you are invited to contact Alisa Thompson at [email protected] or 250-638-4721.
