LUKOIL'S VII SPARTAKIAD RAN ITS COURSE IN NIZHNY NOVGOROD

The closing ceremony of the VII LUKOIL Spartakiad (a sports and athletic contest) devoted to the Company's 30th anniversary took place today in the city of Nizhny Novgorod (Russia).

The final competitions involved about 400 sportsmen in nine teams, with each team traditionally representing a region of LUKOIL's operations - 'West Siberia', 'Centre', 'Volga Region', 'North', 'North-West', 'Perm Region', 'Ural Region', and 'South'. The youngest participant is 22 years old, and the oldest is 66 year old.

Over the course of the Spartakiad, 189 medals in nine disciplines were awarded. Among the disciplines were track-and-field athletics, arm wrestling, triathlon, swimming, beach volleyball, 3x3 basketball, and ping-pong.

President of LUKOIL Vagit Alekperov personally awarded medals​ to the winners.

Information

The Spartakiad aims at promoting sports and healthy lifestyle among LUKOIL employees. The first such event took place in the city of Astrakhan in 2001 and was devoted to the Company's 10th anniversary. Over the following 20 years, cities of Kaliningrad, Kogalym and Perm also hosted the Spartakiad.
