AUGUSTA, ME-January 28, 2022- Central Maine Power (CMP) is preparing to respond to potential outages that could occur with the Nor'easter expected to hit Maine on Saturday. While the storm is expected to carry dry snow over the state, which typically doesn't damage infrastructure, it is the strong coastal winds that could be problematic.
"We have been watching this storm all week and making preparations across our service area," said CMP Vice President of Electric Operations, Adam Desrosiers. "We have 200 CMP lineworkers, approximately 320 contract lineworkers and 124 tree crews travelling to service locations across the state to be ready early Saturday when the storm hits. We urge our customers to prepare in the event outages occur."
In a storm, making local areas safe from any downed wires or debris is always a top priority. CMP has coordinated with the Maine Emergency Management Agency, County Emergency Management agencies, and local municipalities to understand local restoration priorities and any safety concerns.
CMP offers storm preparation tips and a checklist on our website cmpco.com.
