Avondale Haslet Road Construction Notification

July 15, 2022

Working through a mutual partnership agreement, Tarrant County, Precinct 3, under the direction of the City of Fort Worth, will provide the construction services to repair and resurface Avondale Haslet Road from Willow Springs North to Sendera Ranch Boulevard. This project is a cooperative effort to repair and improve the current pavement condition of Avondale Haslet Road. The purpose of this project is to provide temporary interim maintenance until the construction starts for the future expansion of Avondale Haslet Road by the end of 2024. The interim maintenance scope is to repair localized failed areas and overlay the existing street with a new asphalt surface and will not add any additional width or turn lanes.

Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, July 25th. Roadway construction work hours will be between 8:15 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and the project should be completed by Friday, August 19th.

Monday, July 25 - Friday, August 5: During this period, we will be repairing existing asphalt failures.

Construction between Willow Spring North and Willow Springs South: During this phase, traffic on Avondale Haslet Road will be reduced to one lane between Willow Springs North and Willow Springs South. Flaggers will direct traffic one direction at a time through the construction area. All roadways will be re-opened after 4 pm. Access for emergency services will be available at all times.

EXPECT 10 - 15 MIN DELAYS. USE ALTERNATIVE ROUTES IF POSSIBLE.

Construction between Willow Springs South and Sendera Ranch Blvd. Avondale Haslet Road will be closed at Willow Springs South between 8:15 am to 4 pm to all eastbound traffic. Eastbound traffic will be detoured south onto Willow Springs South, east on Blue Mound and back north on John Day Roads. FM 156 can be accessed by continuing straight on Blue Mound Road. (See Detour Route below). Eastbound traffic that may need to access points between Willow Springs and Sendera Ranch Blvd will need to circle through the detour and turn back westbound for access. Traffic between Sendera Ranch Blvd and Willow Springs will be one lane / one-way westbound traffic only. All traffic exiting the neighborhoods and businesses between Willow Springs Road and Sendera Ranch Blvd must turn westbound and use the detour if you want to continue eastbound. This partial closure is being done to minimize excessive delays which would occur if we attempted to flag the heavy volume of traffic through the construction area on one traffic lane while we construct the adjacent lane. All roadways will be re-opened, and traffic restored to normal operations after 4 pm. Access for emergency services will be available at all times. Westbound traffic will not be affected by this closure.

EXPECT 10-15 MIN FOR DELAYS AND DETOURS. USE ALTERNATIVE ROUTES IF POSSIBLE.

Monday, August 8 - Friday, August 19: During this period, a contractor will remove some of the existing pavement along the edges between Willow Springs South to Sendera Ranch Blvd. Then we will resurface the existing pavement with new asphalt paving. We will use the same traffic control for paving operations as before with the repairs. Traffic will be stopped and flagged through the construction area west of Willow Springs South and the detour will be implemented when working east of Willow Springs.

Typically, we find the first week to be the most challenging until the traffic becomes accustomed to the traffic control measures and/or adjust itself to the alternative routes. Please know that we will be aggressively pursuing completion of this project while attempting to minimize the public's inconvenience as much as possible. During certain times, our operations may limit your access. We will do our best to accommodate you as quickly as possible. Please use alternative routes (Willow Springs Road and Blue Mound Road) when possible and plan on 10 to 15 minute delays if you must travel through the construction area or detour.

The schedule provided is weather and material delivery pending.

Your safety and the safety of our crews are of the upmost importance. Please be patient, drive slowly through the construction zone and be keenly aware of the large equipment and personnel working to make improvements for you. Plan extra time for delays if you must travel through the construction area or use alternative routes. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to make these improvements. If you should have any questions regarding this project, please contact Jeffery Perrigo (817-392-8117), City of Fort Worth Public Works Department or Anthony Jaramillo (817-514-5000), Tarrant County for construction concerns.
