Search for boy missing from Annangrove

Thursday, 09 June 2022 06:35:33 AM

Police have renewed their appeal for public assistance to find a boy missing from Sydney's north-west.

Christopher Wilson, aged 11, was last seen when he got off a school bus on Annangrove Road, Annangrove, about 3.20pm yesterday (Wednesday 8 June 2022).

When he failed to return home, officers attached to The Hills Police Area Command were notified and inquiries into his whereabouts began, with a geo-targeted message disseminated to local residents.

An extensive search of the area has been conducted overnight involving police from The Hills Police Area Command, assisted by police from neighbouring commands, as well as a fixed-wing aircraft from PolAir, officers from Police Rescue, and 15 members of the SES.

Properties along Annangrove Road have been canvassed while multiple calls to Crime Stoppers have been followed up.

Police hold concerns for Christopher's welfare due to his young age, the fact that temperatures dropped to 4 degC overnight, and that he has no cash or food. His disappearance is considered out of character.

Christopher is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 120cm tall with a slim build, short brown hair and brown eyes. When last seen, he was wearing his school uniform, consisting of a blue t-shirt with maroon and white trim and grey shorts, and red and black shoes.

A confirmed sighting of Christopher walking along Annangrove Road towards Rouse Hill about 4.45pm showed him also wearing a black and white jacket and carrying a black backpack.

The full-scale search will resume at 8am (Thursday 9 June 2022), with command headquarters established at The Hills Fire Control Centre in Kenthurst. Today's operation will again involve local police, the Police Rescue Squad, PolAir and SES members.

Anyone with information regarding Christopher's whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
