ADCES Receives Welcoming Environment Award from Association Forum

The Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES) has been selected as the recipient of the Association Forum's Welcoming Environment Organizational Award. The award recognizes ADCES' commitment and success in establishing an inclusive and welcoming environment and culture for both its members and staff.

ADCES was selected for this competitive award by demonstrating achievements across a range of criteria set by the Association Forum's Awards & Scholarship Committee, including proof of:

  • Incorporating welcoming environment principles into the organization's core values.

  • Holding leadership accountable for treating employees with respect and care.

  • Supporting all employees' voices and opinions.

  • Championing a welcoming environment for staff and members.

The award comes after years of work by ADCES to ensure it is a welcoming organization for all, including recent initiatives to address diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) among its membership and in the workplace. In 2020, the ADCES Board of Directors appointed an Inclusion Council to develop a charter for expanding the diversity represented in the association's membership and leadership. Simultaneously, a staff DEI committee was created to ensure ADCES was creating a diverse and inclusive environment internally.

"ADCES takes great pride in being recognized by Association Forum, an organization of our peers, with this award. Our commitment to extending a welcoming approach and building community with those we represent and serve is a fundamental value of our leadership and staff," says ADCES Vice President of Human Resources Christine Carter-Eggers.

ADCES and other award recipients will be recognized at Association Forum's Honors Gala on June 23, 2022 at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile.
