Luhri-1 Project enters advanced stage of construction: CMD SJVN inaugurates Diversion Tunnel of the project.

Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN today triggered the last blast and inaugurated River Diversion of 210 MW Luhri Stage-1 Hydro Electric Project. Sh. Sharma also inaugurated the commencement of fabrication of Pen Stock and erection works of Diversion Tunnel Gates. On this occasion, Sh. S.P Bansal Director (Civil), Sh. R.L Negi, Head of the Project along with other senior officials were also present.<_o3a_p>

Sh. Nand Lal Sharma informed that the completion of 617-meter-long diversion tunnel is an important achievement for the project. "Diversion of river water through it will pave the way for construction of Coffer Dam and will take us nearer to our commissioning target," said Sh. Sharma. Foundation Stone of 210 MW Luhri Stage-1 Hydro Electric Project was laid by Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi on 27th December 2021.<_o3a_p>

Sh. Nand Lal Sharma took a detailed review of the ongoing stripping works for Dam, Power House & Tail Race Arrangement at Right Bank of the river and Diversion of National Highway. The National Highway Diversion works are at final stage and will be completed very shortly. With this, the construction works for Dam at Left Bank of the river will also commence. Sh. Sharma urged the employees to keep up the dedication and team spirit to complete construction activities of all the components on schedule. <_o3a_p>

Sh. Nand Lal Sharma apprised thattheestimated cost of Luhri Stage-1 Hydro Electric Project is Rs 1810 crores and on completion, it would generate 758 million units of electricity annually. The project would also lead to reduction in emission of 6.1 lakh tons of carbon dioxide annually. He further stated that Luhri-1 Project is contributing in the overall development of the area with community asset creation, infrastructure development and generation of direct & indirect employment. Various CSR initiatives are being implemented in the project vicinity benefitting the region and the State of Himachal Pradesh at large. Sh. Sharma also inspected the construction activities for 84mtr long Steel Truss Bridge. On completion, the bridge will facilitate the project activities and will be immensely beneficial for people of Kullu & Shimla districts.<_o3a_p>

Presently, SJVN has a portfolio of more than 31500 MW. The company is executing multiple projects in India, Nepal & Bhutan with key focus on harnessing renewable energy. Rapid addition of multiple projects in recent times has propelled forward the company towards achieving its Shared Vision of 5000 MW by 2023, 25000 MW by 2030 & 50000 MW by 2040.<_o3a_p>
