Aurora Man Arrested After Armed Robbery

Jarvis L. Postlewaite, Aurora ArrestedFollowing Robbery

On January 19, 2022, at 1254 hrs., an armed robbery was reported by an employee of Trainor BP, 319 W. Howard Street in Pontiac. The uninjured employee was able to provide a description of the masked assailant, advising he displayed a handgun before demanding money and forcing the employee to lie on the ground. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled the store.

Subsequent investigation revealed a beige Honda Accord, bearing Illinois registration of CW91506, was involved in the robbery. This vehicle had been reported stolen from Aurora, Illinois on 1/14/2022.

The vehicle was observed driving at a high rate of speed in Grundy County at approximately 1830 hrs. It continued through the Village of Dwight and northeast Livingston County before crashing on the west side of Kankakee, IL. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Jarvis L. Postlewaite, Aurora, attempted to flee on foot before being taken into custody. A stolen handgun, a large amount of cash, and various narcotics were recovered from the totaled vehicle.

Mr. Postlewaite was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee for medical treatment. This is an ongoing investigation, with further information regarding criminal charges forthcoming.

Assisting agencies include the Dwight Police Department, the Livingston County, Grundy County and Kankakee County Sheriff's Departments, the Kankakee Police Department, and the Illinois State Police District 21.
