A Day in the Life: Working on the Allegheny Portage Railroad

Costumed rangers perform the tasks and trades that made the Allegheny Portage Railroad function. Programs include stonecutting, log hewing, rope making, natural dyes and more! Programs vary on a daily basis.

These programs are generally held between 10:00 AM-12:00 PM in the mornings and from 2:00 PM- 4:00 PM in the afternoons. The programs are weather and staff dependent. Inquire at the Visitor Center about what program is being offered on the day of your visit.
