Superintendent Message: Covid-19 Update 7.24.21

July 24, 2021

Dear Woodridge families

We have received notification that (1) eleventh grade student participating in summer activities on the district Campus tested positive for COVID-19. This student will be unable to return to extracurricular activities until cleared by their health care provider and/or Summit County Public Health. While we must protect the privacy of the student involved, we believe it is best to communicate transparently with you so you can make well-informed decisions for your family. Upon receipt of this information, this positive case was immediately investigated following the district's protocol for investigating COVID-19 cases. As a result, no further actions beyond this notification were required.

We take the safety and health of our students, staff and their families very seriously. We are in close communication with our county health officials to ensure that we are making decisions that are in the best interest of our district community.

The Woodridge Local School District will continue to follow all COVID-related safety procedures including notification and guidance when a positive COVID-19 case has been reported. For more information please visit woodridge.k12.oh.us/health. The district dashboard can be accessed at woodridge.k12.oh.us/dashboard.

COVID-19 is transmitted through person-to-person contact and through the exchange of respiratory droplets. As more cases are being confirmed across the state, including in our community, it is important to be sensible, but to also be vigilant. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough and shortness of breath. If you or any member of your family exhibit these symptoms, please contact your medical provider for advice immediately. Symptoms usually appear 2-14 days after exposure.

Our priority is the safety of our students, staff and community members. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve you and your family, especially as we face this unprecedented situation together.

Sincerely,

Walter C. Davis, Superintendent
