In Karachay-Cherkessia, the district stage of True Friend competition of the Southern MD ends

In the mountain motorized rifle formation of the Southern Military District, stationed in Karachay-Cherkessia, the district stage of the competition among dog handlers True Friend is coming to an end.

The competition is attended by about 24 dog handlers with service dogs from the 49th and 8th combined arms formations, the 4th air force and the air defence army of the Southern Military District. Participants of the competition represent military units stationed in Rostov and Volgograd regions, Stavropol Territory, Adygea, Crimea and Karachay-Cherkessia. Women's teams also took part in the competition.

One of the most difficult disciplines in the competition is Dog Biathlon (individual race), where servicemen with their service dogs covered a distance of 3,200 m with two firing lines.

Cynologists with their service dogs will have to overcome barriers, stairs, crawling a strip of engineering barriers, jump over trenches, overcome a moat with water and a wooden boom imitating an equipped five-meter section of crossing an obstacle.

During the Sharpshooter exercise, servicemen fired from a standing position from AK-74M at an emerging target at a distance of up to 100 m from various positions.

Cynologists have yet to take part in the fifth test - the final relay race of the Dog Biathlon, after which the winners of the district stage of the True Friend competition will be determined.

The best specialists of service dog breeding with their pets will represent the Southern Military District at the all-army competitions, which will be held at the end of June on the basis of the 470th training center of service dog breeding of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, located in the Dmitrovsky district of the Moscow region.
