FREEHOLD, NJ - The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners congratulates the Marlboro High School Consumer Bowl team who won the 2024 Central Region Consumer Bowl and has advanced to the Consumer Bowl State Championship on May 30.

The Consumer Bowl is a game-show-style competition that tests students' knowledge of consumer-related information. The Marlboro High School team won the 2024 Monmouth County Consumer Bowl in February to advance to the regional competition.

"Congratulations to the Marlboro High School Consumer Bowl team for winning the Central Region Consumer Bowl and advancing to the State Championship," said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. "Marlboro High School competed against five teams and highlighted their knowledge about consumer-related information and we are excited to watch them compete for the State title."

"During the Consumer Bowl, students answer questions about topics covered in the Consumer Fraud Act such as home improvement contractors, gift cards, cryptocurrency, identity theft, internet issues and amusement games," said Commissioner Erik Anderson, liaison to the Monmouth County Division of Consumer Affairs. "Congratulations to Marlboro High School and best of luck in the State Championship."

The members of Marlboro High School Consumer Bowl team are Sean Gelman (captain), Summer Adler, David Tabak, Elan Abramson and Chase Sussman (alternate). The team's teachers/advisers are Patrick Scinto and Nicole Bendik, and Marlboro High School's principal is David Bleakley.

Monmouth County Consumer Affairs has five investigators who actively assist residents with consumer issues. The Division's staff has the resources and the authority to investigate complaints about billing, gift cards, home repair, car sales and repairs, scams and much more. The Division annually investigates more than 600 complaints and attempts to mediate solutions.
