Jackrabbits ground Warhawks, 6-1

HOUSTON -- South Dakota State closed its stay at the Scrap Yard College Softball Classic Sunday with a 6-1 win over Louisiana Monroe.

The Jackrabbits (4-5) had seven hits in the game and saw earn her third victory of the season. Glanzer struck out seven and allowed one run on four hits in the complete-game performance.

drove in four runs in the win, going 2-for-3 with a double and three-run home run. (RBI) and added doubles, while tallied the other Jackrabbit RBI.

SDSU jumped on the Warhawks early, opening up a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. started the offense with a one-out single before Halvorson and Lenox followed with RBI doubles.

ULM cut the deficit to one (2-1) with a triple and RBI single in the second, but the Jackrabbits got the run back in the bottom of the frame with a two-out rally. Yoder lofted a 2-1 pitch to left for a double, then Daugherty brought her home on a single to center.

That score held until the bottom of the fifth, when Lenox launched her second home run of the season as the Jackrabbits took a 6-1 lead. Lenox's long ball plated Daugherty and Pfeifer, who reached earlier in the inning on fielder's choices.

Glanzer faced just one over the minimum in the final three innings to close out the win.

  • South Dakota State is now 2-3 all-time against Louisiana Monroe. The Jacks swept this weekend's games with the Warhawks.
