CONGRESSMAN GONZALEZ ANNOUNCES SOUTH TEXAS STUDENTS THAT HAVE RECEIVED OFFERS TO MATRICULATE AT U.S. SERVICE ACADEMIES FOR 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR

McALLEN, Texas - Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) has announced that five South Texas students have received offers to attend a U.S. Service Academy. These academies include the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, and the U.S. Military Academy in WestPoint, NY.

"I am honored to have these young and aspiring leaders from South Texas serve our country", stated Congressman Gonzalez. "I look forward to seeing what the future has in store for them as they move into this next chapter of their young lives. It is an honor to be a part of this process."

The nominated students who have received offers are as follows:

· Genesis Hernandez of Mercedes, U.S. Naval Academy

· Ethan Buck of Cibolo, U.S. Naval Academy

· Joshua Kelly of Cibolo, U.S. Air Force Academy

· Sayge V. Berger of New Braunfels, U.S. Air Force Academy

· Hiram Flores of Mission, U.S. Military Academy

The application process for most U.S. Service Academies involves receiving a nomination from a U.S. Representative, U.S. Senator, the Vice President, or the President. Once the nomination is confirmed, the academy will review the candidate to determine admission. Students who are accepted become scholar soldiers at some of the most prestigious institutions in America.

Along with an age requirement, applicants must possess a willingness to lead and make a commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. Interested students can apply for a congressional nomination to one of these academies by visiting our website.
