USDA Funding Available for Colorado's Joint Chief's Landscape Restoration Partnership - Southern Front Range Project

DENVER, CO - Clint Evans, USDA's State Conservationist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Colorado recently announced funding opportunities for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)Joint Chief's Restoration Landscape Partnership Project along the Southern Front Range.

This project enables NRCS and the U.S. Forest Service to collaborate with agricultural producers and forest landowners to invest in conservation and restoration across the public/private land ownership patchwork. Practices implemented will treat vegetation in the project area within Pueblo, Custer, Huerfano, and Las Animas counties. Treatments would be adjacent to or near the towns of Cuchara, Aguilar, Stonewall, Wetmore, Westcliffe, Beulah, and Rye, Colorado.

Working in partnership, and at this scale, helps reduce wildfire threats, protect water quality, and supply and improve wildlife habitat for at-risk species. Applications for this round of funding will be processed through NRCS's ACT NOW process. ACT NOW allows producers the opportunity to apply for applicable NRCS funding and potentially know if their project will be funded in an expedited manner. ACT NOW applications are due to NRCS no later than May 17, 2024.

For more information about JCLRP Southern Front Range EQIP funding or to apply, landowners in Pueblo, Custer, Huerfano, and Las Animas Counties should contact theirlocal NRCS field office located in the USDA Service Centerthat services their county.
