Germany pledges to support EUR 113.556 million for ODA of Vietnam (23/07/2021-16:34:00 PM)

(MPI) - Pham Hoang Mai, Director General of Department of Foreign Economic Relations and Gisela Hammerschmidt, Director for Asia of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) signed a Memorandum of Government-level webinar on development cooperation in 2021 between Vietnam and Germany on July 23rd, 2021.

Accordingly, Germany commits to supporting Vietnam with ODA loans of EUR 50 million in 2021 and non-refundable ODA of EUR 63.559 million for 14 technical assistance and investment projects.

In which, the 'Center for Disease Forecasting and Management' project for emergency response to the Covid-19 pandemic proposed by the Ministry of Health of Vietnam is EUR 15 million of non-refundable ODA pledged by the German Government.

The German Government identifies Vietnam as a 'Global Partner' in development cooperation of the new 'BMZ 2030 Strategy'. On that basis, the German side hopes to further boost ties with Vietnam in solving global issues such as climate change, environmental protection and global economic stability.

03 promoted priority sectors of ODA cooperation between the two countries were Energy, Vocational training and Environment renamed into Training and Sustainable Growth; Responsibility for Planet-Climate and Energy; Life Protection on Earth-Environment and Natural Resources in accordance with the 'BMZ Strategy 2030'.

In addition, Germany also agrees to enhance the cooperation in medicine to help Vietnam cope with the Covid-19 pandemic./.
