With Spring here and the weather warming, and with minimal rainfall over the last few months, residents are reminded to be wise with their water consumption and make themselves aware of the current water restrictions throughout the LGA.
'Throughout the cooler months the Shire area saw very minimal rainfall which has been bitterly disappointing', said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Denis Todd. 'Due to these tough drought conditions Council would like to remind residents that there are currently water restrictions in place throughout five (5) out of the six (6) towns across the Shire.'
'Coonabarabran is currently on level 4 water restrictions with Timor Dam still sitting below 20% capacity. Binnaway, Coolah, Dunedoo and Mendooran are all on level 1 water restrictions. Baradine residents do not have any water restrictions at the current time', explained Cr Todd.
'Council is urging water users to be mindful of their water consumption and take the necessary steps to reduce that use.'
Cr Todd said, 'Coming into the warmer months it is important for everyone to do their part in conserving the town water supplies and be aware of what water restrictions apply.'
'With the ongoing drought conditions, restrictions may tighten again over the next few months, especially with the weather warming up already', Cr Todd said.
The current water restriction notices are available on Council's website as well as at Council's administration offices in Coonabarabran and Coolah.
Cr Todd said, 'Watering hours will change with the start of daylight savings on Sunday, 6 October 2019 and the updated notices will be distributed to business and household in each town.'
