Makedonski Telekom is part of the action “Earth Hour” 2018

  • On 24 March (Saturday) from 20:30 to 21:30 pm, the lights in the administrative building in the centre of Skopje will be turned off

This year Makedonski Telekom will also be a part of the largest worldwide voluntary action 'Earth Hour'. On 24 March (Wednesday) in the period from 20:30 to 21:30 pm, the company will turn off the lights in the administrative building in the centre of Skopje, thus sending a message for saving the planet Earth.

For years, the climate changes are one of the most serious problems of today, and therefore Makedonski Telekom has traditionally been part of the global initiatives for climate changes and sustainable development, thus demonstrating not only the social responsibility but also the commitment to protect the environment. To that end, the company is striving towards a sustainable society for the new generations and in its everyday operation it is continuously taking measures for improvement of the environment.
This year, several initiatives have started as a part of the 'Telekom Goes Green' project whereby Makedonski Telekom joins the fight for clean air and healthy environment. The fleet is enriched with smart bikes for healthy and useful habits of the employees and also with the first electric vehicle as a step forward towards the fight against the air pollution in the capital.

Furthermore, Makedonski Telekom also applies innovative solutions for increasing the energy efficiency and manages to decrease the energy consumption by introducing new modern communication technologies. Automatic light switching system was introduced in the administrative buildings for the purpose of controlling the electricity consumption. The company selects and adequately treats the dangerous waste such as electronic and electrical waste, batteries and accumulators. The environmental care is confirmed by many measures for decreasing the use of paper, and one of the more important measures implemented in partnership with the customers is the introduction of electronic bill as a replacement for the paper bill. Another evidence of the constant environmental care is the continuous review of the ISO 14001:2004 standard requirements.

With its support to the action 'Earth Hour', Makedonski Telekom provides its contribution to raising of the awareness of the climate changes and concurrently encourages the other companies, individuals or organisations to actively engage in the preserving a healthy environment for the future generations.
The global movement 'Earth Hour' was initiated by World Wildlife Fund organization with the participation of more than 180 countries worldwide.
